IMD Forecasts Very Heavy Rainfall Across Several States as Thunderstorms Loom

IMD forecasts very heavy rainfall over north Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, while several regions face heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning today.

 

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast very heavy rainfall conditions over north Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand today, with several other parts of the country also expected to witness heavy rain.

The weather agency has predicted heavy rainfall over parts of North-east India, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi today.

Similar weather conditions are expected over Bihar, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Vidarbha, Coastal Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe during the day.

According to the IMD, North Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Coastal Karnataka, East Rajasthan, Jammu-Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh and Madhya Maharashtra are also expected to experience thunderstorms and lightning conditions today.

The forecast places several regions under the influence of heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, with the IMD warning of lightning activity across multiple states and Union Territories during the day.
